The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is backed by government and protects your savings up to £85,000 in the unlikely event that anything should happen to your bank, building society or credit union.
You'll probably never need us. But it's nice to know we're here.
If anything happens to your bank, building society or credit union, the FSCS automatically refunds savings up to £85,000 within 7 days. You won't have to do anything.
98% of the UK population have less than £85,000 in savings and are covered by the £85,000 protection limit.
The FSCS was established over 10 years ago. We have helped more than 4½ million people and paid out more than £26 billion in compensation.
